Signature Gifts - Find a unique baby gift you can create your own

Then you get that next round of invitations and start racking your brain for baby shower gift ideas... and then it's off to Babies R Us (unless you can find another great source for unique baby gifts)! I decided I didn't just want to check off items on a registry, however, and began knitting cute sweaters for my friends' kids.

I had two main varieties; one, for anyone with any sort of Celtic origin, was an adorable Irish sweater with a wide neck to get over those little baby heads. It was a perfect baby boy gift OR baby girl gift! And could be knit in colors that would work as either! The second was a variation on the J-Crew rollneck sweater, with the initial of the child's last name knitted in-or sometimes a first name; one of my dear friends, whose son was the recipient of an "M" shirt for his "Matthew", spoke of how he considered it his "Superman" sweater and wore it well past its prime.

I was so pleased that I had established a unique and personalized baby gift until suddenly my friends began moving Southwest. And I simply couldn't justify knitting away on adorable sweaters that couldn't be worn in the 100 degree PLUS weather of Texas, or Arizona, or what have you. While certainly baby sweaters, as a personalized gifts, have a much longer "shelf life" than the 3-6 months, they still couldn't be worn nearly enough in hot climates to make it worthwhile.

So I had to come up with a different signature, personalized baby gift. In that moment I had my children and I could see, what really worked with them. They have had two favorite books that would be happy if they were made of tiny little and too light, so far, at the age of 6 and 5 These books together are the backbone of the baby gift basket I made. I also have a CD by a great singer Kid "Ralph's World," I launch into this new baby gift. My car traveling near and to have extended considerablyadding the voice of Ralph, and I have great reports from everyone I gave this gift.

Best of all the elements are all available online for ordering and shipping easy. They are proven winners, road tested with my own crew, so I still feel that they are individually and specifically. And if a parent is here or there, sometimes call to complain about not getting a particularly catchy song by Ralph out of his head, it is better to give as a baby crying! EThis is really the point, no new baby gift, I think!

Great Gifts For Baby Showers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

An important part of a baby shower is helping the soon to be parents stock up on needed items. When asked what they may need some new parents may be confused on what they need or they may just answer with the standard "diaper" answer.

One great gift to give a new parent is a baby monitor. These are great to help ease the mother's mind. With them the parents can leave a sleeping baby safe in it's crib without checking on them every 5 minutes. The newest models can detect the smallest sounds, some can even detect the baby's breathing. You may also want to look into a video monitor. These are great because instead of just hearing the baby, the parents can also see what their baby is doing. Depending on the type of model these may be fairly expensive, so you might want to look into making this a joint gift from multiple people.

Another great gift is a baby sling. Baby slings are believed to help create a closer bond between the child and parent. Slings are also great because they allow the parent to have their hands free when holding the baby. Any mother will tell you that being able to multitask while holding a baby is a great help.

Many parents stock up on the essentials like diapers, clothes, and blankets. What they may fail to realize is that babies grow fast and then they are suddenly left without toys for their child. A great baby toy is a play gym. These can provide hours of entertainment for children. They are also great for stimulating the child's development. A lot of play gyms can be converted to also help encourage a baby's tummy time.

If you do go for the traditional gifts of clothes and diapers, make sure to include sizes that the baby can grow into. Babies grow really fast and you don't want the mother to wake up one day to find she has nothing for the baby to wear.

Ways to Understand Baby Crying

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Understanding baby crying can help parents and caregivers to make the baby stop from doing so and to brig relief to their needs. Babies have their stages too, each stage is equally important in understanding the baby cries. Crying is the baby's language. It is pretty much the only way an infant can express feelings like discomfort, hunger, exhaustion and loneliness. As the baby grows it will learn to communicate in other means like facial expressions and body language. But while babies could only talk in this way, parents should give enough attention to understanding the infant cries.

Newborn's cries differ from those older baby cries. Some babies are easy to console while others simply scream for most of the time. One should understand why babies cry, it is never easy to start understanding your crying baby. But just like any relationship you learn to build one with your baby and eventually you'll get to distinguish each cry.

Several studies have been conducted in reference to infant crying, most of these in hopes to alleviate trouble both for the parents and the child. Through time most caregivers and parents thought the crying is either due to gastrointestinal pain or the baby is upset, as always full studies support that this is not always the case. It has been proven that crying is an integral part of infant growth and only 10% of these spells are actually caused by "colic" or a term coined by doctors for unexplained crying. Crying is the first form of communication of the babies. They usually cry because they need you to look what might be wrong with them. A crying infant is usually a sign to elicit care from the parents or caregivers.

Caregivers and parents that build relationship with the babies are able to distinguish each cry. Mothers, especially due to the nurturing nature, become the expert in understanding each cry in a way that no one else can. In some other research child development professionals have concluded that certain types of cries mean certain things. In other words babies don't cry the same exact way every time. Babies cry in different pitches depending upon their distress. Like high-pitched cries are associated with sharp pain.

How Land Rover Accessories Might Improve Your Daily Life

For those who own a Land Rover, there are a multitude of accessories that can make owning one more enjoyable, or making daily activities easier. Sometime though, the sheer range of Land Rover accessories make it difficult to choose ones that are right for you. So in this article we'll look at some of the main ways you can enhance your experience of owning such a vehicle.

Whether you already own a Freelander, Discovery, Defender, or one of the other models, there are ways to change your vehicle on both the outside and the inside. One of the most popular Land Rover accessories is that of enhancing the wheels of a given vehicle. There are a range of alloy-based wheels that come in a range of styles. Which one you choose really depends on your personality - alloy wheels are a great way to express yourself and the way you use your Land Rover. It is common for these wheels to come in 19 and 20 inch sizes.

When it comes to the interior too, there are a great number of Land Rover accessories to choose from. These accessories enhance both the look of your vehicle as well as offering practical benefits too. If, as many people do, you have a child as well as a vehicle such as this, you'll find that a baby or child seat is very beneficial when it comes to transporting your offspring. There are a variety of infant carriers and baby carriers that have been specially designed to fit in the various models from the Land Rover brand.

If you plan to use your vehicle to its practical limits, then among the accessories you might consider are loadspace protectors, which ensure that any objects you carry in the back of your vehicle, do not impinge themselves on people sitting in the back seats - or even front seats!

At the practical end of the available Land Rover accessories, you may also wish to invest in a rubber mat set. These are particularly useful if you use your vehicle for trips into the country, or have particularly messy offspring. In the area of keeping your vehicle clean, you might also wish to consider a waterproof cover for your seats. You should note however that these products are sometimes only for certain types of seat.

Adding accessories to your vehicle can certainly help you get the most out of your daily activities, whatever you use your 4 x4 for.

Why diaper bags are so popular

Image : http://www.flickr.com

With babies in tow it's difficult for parents to go about shopping or do their share of chores. Taking babies out can be quite a problem as a lot of things need to be carried along. The solution to this problem is baby changing bags. These bags are of great help as they help carry all the baby articles. These bags are designed to carry all the baby things like nappies, feeding bottle, clothes etc.

With changing times and trends, there are more number of men looking after little babies and these bags are even more popular with them. However, men don't fancy using brightly coloured, floral printed baby changing bags. Hence the newly evolved bags are more father friendly and compatible in a way such that men can use it comfortably. These baby bags have thermal insulated holder for water bottles, pram hooks, clip for key rings, compartments to keep clothes and nappies separately. These bags also have separate pockets to keep the used nappies and soiled clothes.

The bags have a lot of pockets and pouches that are necessary to keep articles needed for the baby like hair brush, baby powder, water and drink bottle holders. There are also separate pouches and pockets to keep the mobile phone and wallet. Most importantly these bags come with adjustable shoulder straps that are comfortable to use. Some of such bags can also be converted and used as backpack. These bags come with completely detachable pouches where one can store the used nappies.

Due to its uses and these bags being water resistant, they are expensive. But considering all the advantages it has to offer and the convenience of carrying all the baby articles in one bag the baby changing bags are definitely worth a buy. With changing trends the baby bags have also undergone changes which make them usable to both the parents. Baby changing bags that are now manufactured come with not just a new look but also has better designs to cater to the use and convenience of the parents and to accommodate all the baby articles.

Reasons You and Your Partner Should Consider a Baby Sling

Image : http://www.flickr.com

They seem to fall in and out of favor every couple of years. Baby slings (also known as carriers, wraps, etc.) were once the method of choice for millions of moms and dads who wanted to carry their babies. Today, few parents use them and instead, invest hundreds of dollars in the latest suspension system-equipped strollers.

There are actually several reasons to consider using a carrier. From building your baby's sense of independence to helping dad bond, slings can offer unique advantages for parents. This article will provide an overview of those advantages along with a few tips for choosing the right model.

From Womb To The World

When infants are born, they are forced to leave the warmth, comfort, and security of their homes (for the last nine months). That can have a jarring effect on some newborns. Wearing your infant in a wrap keeps her close to your body. She'll be able to feel your skin and warmth; both are comforting and can help her make the transition from the womb into the world. Car seats and strollers, while safe, cannot offer this type of physical contact. Neither can provide the same level of comfort.

Less Likely To Cry

Despite what many parents instinctively believe, babies do not immediately start to cry when they want something (i.e. food, a clean diaper, etc.). They'll first attempt to get their point across by using other means. Because they cannot verbalize their needs, these first attempts quickly escalate into crying.

When you carry your little one in a wrap, you'll be more conscious of her needs. You'll hear her subtle fussing due to hunger. You'll notice her body relaxing as she falls asleep. You'll become aware more quickly when she needs a new diaper. As a result, you'll be able to respond to her needs before she registers them by crying.

Bonding With Dad

For generations, fathers have assumed that the bond that exists between mothers and their babies stems from breastfeeding. In a sense, this assumption is true. However, the reason is misunderstood. When a baby nurses, it is the physical contact with her mother that forms the bond. It is the warmth of her mother's skin, the easy eye contact, and the subtle sound of her heartbeat.

A sling provides an easy way for dads to offer their infants the same physical contact, warmth, and comfort. An infant will begin to identify the feel and scent of her father, and the tremor of his voice.

Encouraging Autonomy

In the U.S. and other western cultures, parents have traditionally taught their kids to be independent. Experts suggest this may be one of the reasons moms and dads in western societies are likely to hold their children less than parents in countries where slings are commonly used.

Interestingly, some experts believe that not holding children close produces the opposite effect. That is, kids who are held close to their parents are more likely to develop the confidence needed to be autonomous. An argument can thus be made that wearing your baby in a sling will encourage their independence down the road.

Selecting The Right Model

Slings, carriers, and wraps, come in different forms. Carriers are designed to hold babies in the front; they're worn with straps that go over both shoulders. Slings and wraps are designed to be worn over one shoulder, similar to a bicycle messenger's bag. The option you choose will depend on a number of factors.

If you're planning to breastfeed, a sling is better-suited for the task than a carrier. Also, consider whether you intend to use the wrap or carrier for practical purposes (i.e. holding your infant while shopping, etc.) or for bonding. Will you carry your baby in it for long periods each day or as an occasional alternative to your stroller? Think about the support you'll need for your neck, back, and shoulders during long walks.

Using a sling, wrap, or carrier to transport your baby is a fantastic way to comfort and bond with her. It takes a little getting used to, but can play a key role in her healthy development.

Tips For Purchasing Baby Products

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It can be a little over whelming when you're looking for any type of mother or baby product and this is even more so for first time parent. My husband and I were in this boat not so long ago, since I've now been better informed and am now more knowledgeable I have decided to write the following article to help people purchase the correct baby products from reliable places. I hope my article helps.

What are the main things I need to consider purchasing when having a baby?
The following things need to be considered-
Prams or buggies
Car seats and Carriers
Cots, Beds and Bedroom Furniture
Nappies, Clothing and Bedding,
High chairs, Feeding and Sterilising kits
Stair Gates, playpens and monitors
toys, Bouncers and Swings

Although some of these products will be needed when the baby is slightly older it's better to know exactly what you need to get.

Things to Consider when Purchasing Baby Products
You need to consider whether the material is suitable for your child, is anything likely to come off from the product fairly quickly. Don't forget that the baby may choke on these things so all baby products should be thoroughly tested. Look into what tests they've done on the product you're looking to purchase.

If you wish to purchase online then look at customer reviews on the site you wish to purchase from, this will give you a great indication of what the company's customer service is like along with the products usability.

It's also worth doing some homework in regards to the different tests done on baby products so that you know what should be expected of a product and whether it has been tested.
Regardless of what you purchase I would recommend looking online for voucher codes to save money on your purchase. Having a baby can be extremely expensive so save money were you can!

Wearable Pet Carriers - Different Types

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Can you guess that what are the benefits of the small pets? Yes the biggest benefit is that you can take them quite easily to any place. Suppose you have a small dog then it would be quite easy for you to carry it wherever you go. Some of the wearable pet carriers are also available if your pet is of light weight, then you will be easily able to carry the pet with you in that carrier.

Some of the people use the baby carriers to carry their pets. But you should know that the pet carriers which are wearable are also available on the net. This is certainly quite important for you. They are meant for providing you the maximum comfort. But how are they able to provide you the maximum comfort. This is certainly a very big question. You need to look at some very good models before finally deciding that which pet carrier is best suited to you.

Some of the wearable pet carriers are as follows:

1. The first one is the dog backpack. They are certainly the regular one for carrying the dogs. They are available in different varieties and all of them are quite gorgeous. You need to understand that they are quite great for you. Some of them also come up with the holes. The dogs can keep their legs out through those holes. This design has certainly proved out to be quite in demand and many people are trying to buy such carriers for them.

2. The second one is the front style pet carriers. It is quite analogous to the dog back pack. However you should keep one thing in your mind that it is worn in front. This is indeed quite a comfortable one and you need to just take your puppy out with the help of this carrier. If your pet is light weight then you will certainly love to carry it. You will also find some carriers with the help of which you can carry multiple dogs. However if your dog weight is more than 15 pounds then you should never try this model. It will be very painful for you.

3. The next one is the pet carrier messenger bag. This bag is certainly designed to carry the pets. This one is worn across the shoulders and is quite good for you as well. It is cozy for the pets as well comfortable for the carriers and that is you.

So these are some of the carriers and you need to keep all of them in mind. You can decide to buy any one of them. They all are just excellent.

Baby Stuff - Choosing the Right Baby Essentials

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The arrival of a baby usually calls for a flurry of purchases, some needed, and some not so needed. Whether your new arrival is your first or not, here are some general guidelines on what you can stock up on before baby arrives:

o diapers. Whether you use disposables, or go green and use cloth, you will need to set up a supply of diapers. Don't buy too many of the smallest size, though-hundreds of diapers in the 5lb size will do you no good if your newborn weighs in at a hefty 9 pounds! A newborn can go through dozens of diapers a week, so if you stock up early, you can avoid running out to the store during those early days

o Medical supplies. Before your baby comes home, stock up on over the counter medications a newborn can safely take and medical supplies that might be helpful. Baby acetaminophen, a saline solution for congestion, and a thermometer are a must, and it is very helpful to have these items on hand when you need them.

o Car seat. This item is essential, and is also mandated by law. Many hospitals won't release your infant unless you have a car seat installed for him or her to ride in. Choose a seat with great reviews for safety and comfort, and that fits your car and lifestyle as well.

o Hand- Me- Downs. Gently used clothing is great for kids of any age-especially newborns. Infants don't care what they wear, and grow so quickly that clothing simply doesn't wear out before the child outgrows it. Save clothing from your older children, shop consignment sales, and accept any hand-me-downs you are offered, you will save a ton of money on clothing.

o Brightly colored toys. toys with high contrast colors (like black and white), or vivid brights make great first toys for your new baby. Even if your new arrival can only look at these items, consider supplying something bright of high contrast for her to enjoy.

o toys with texture or sound. Look for toys with interesting texture, or that crinkle or jingle when moved. It will be a while before your infant is ready to play with these, but he or she will enjoy holding them, or watching you hold them.

o Sling. A baby sling can allow you to keep your child close, and give him a safe and comfortable place to nest. When you look at slings, make sure you try on a few-they come in a variety of sizes, and you should choose the one that fits your body type best. If a sling fits you, you will be more likely to wear it and use it often.

As useful as hand- me-down clothing is, you should pass on a used crib or car seat. Older cribs lack safety features of newer models, and sometimes the paint used contains lead or hazardous substances. A car seat that looks okay may have been in a crash, or simply been dropped, rendering some of the foam used to keep your child safe useless. Both of these items are used to keep your infant safe, and should be purchased new.

Kombucha - Add a Healthy Fizz to Your Life

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Kombucha, or "kombucha tea" as it's sometimes called, is a powerful probiotic beverage you're sure to love. You can purchase kombucha in many health food or whole foods stores, or you can grow your own "culture" at home.

Kombucha is a fermented product much like traditional sourdough bread. It has a culture or "mother" - also called a "scoby." Scoby stands for "symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts." These terms are interchangeable. Kombucha is cultured much like probiotic yogurts, and it's a probiotic itself.

It's possible to grow it at home with a little effort. The benefits of culturing your own kombucha include cost - the bottled kind can get expensive - and the endless supply you get for your initial work. That's right, like a sourdough "mother" your little scoby will keep on giving you more and more kombucha.

Why is kombucha such a good thing? The research is still coming in, but thus far benefits shown are very similar to those of fermented milk products (like yogurt and kefir). It's been beneficial to individuals suffering from issues like eczema, arthritis, allergies, and chronic fatigue. Kombucha, like other fermented products, is especially good for people suffering from digestive and bowel issues. Kombucha can be used externally as a hair wash or for skin issues.

Kombucha is a traditional drink believed to have originated in China and has been enjoyed there for thousands of years. Other cultures also adopted and used kombucha, including Russia, Japan, and possibly African cultures. It's also believed to have had a place in European cultures before losing popularity in the twentieth century. Some popularity was restored when doctors in Germany began using it for its health properties.

Tradition states that it was called "The Tea of Immortality" and it was thought to hold mystery, power, and a bit of magic. It was thought to lengthen the lifespan of people, help reduce the appearance of veins in old age, speed healing, increase blood circulation.

Kombucha is made by fermenting tea and sugar together with the kombucha scoby. The living organisms in the scoby feed on the sugar, and on the alcohols made during the fermentation process. The resulting kombucha has a pleasant taste that changes slightly based on the tea you use. It can be called slightly sour. Some compare it to apple cider or champagne in flavor.

The best part of kombucha is the fizz. It has an amazing fizz that puts soda pop to shame. In fact, kombucha is a refreshing, healthy alternative to sugar and corn-syrup filled sodas. Be very careful when you're opening a bottle of kombucha because it's quite possible for it to fizz up and out!

If you'd like to buy kombucha look for trusted brand's like GT Dave's. If you want to try making your own you can find recipes within cookbooks like Nourishing Traditions and you can order kombucha cultures, or scoby-s online from a number of different sources. Kombucha is a delicious, probiotic drink you'll love adding to your kitchen!

Why Busy Parents Should Consider Getting a Front Facing Baby Carrier

Busy parents always seemed to be challenged when it comes to building and developing a close relationship with their baby. If you are one of these parents, you need not worry that much any longer. You might think that this kind of carrier is pretty much like any baby sling or carrier out in the market but you might want to think a again. A front pack baby carrier can simulate your way of carrying your baby in your arms, allowing you to build and develop that kind of close relationship you have always wanted to have with your child.

In the past decade, carriers for babies have become so popular among working moms and dads, and even to those who stay at home for most part of the day. They are quite convenient solutions if you want to spend time with your baby even as you move around. However, most parents would prefer to carry their babies in front of them, instead of having their babies on their backs. Some parents might still consider a pack to carry their babies on their backs, thinking that this option is more convenient. There can be some truth into this but it is definitely better to keep your baby as close to your body as possible in front of you. In this manner, you can really make your baby feel you are still holding him or her as you go around and do the things that you need to do.

It is about time for busy parents to consider getting a front facing baby carrier for their little bundles of joy. With this kind of carrier, they will be able to spend more quality time with their babies, without having to keep themselves from doing the things they need to do - like cleaning feeding bottles, grabbing baby clothes from the closet, and many others.

5 Breastfeeding Must Haves

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We are all told that breast is best, that it triumphs formula milk by a million miles and that it is key to our baby's development. What we aren't told is that a little bit of help may be needed when it comes to successfully establishing breastfeeding and that it isn't as easy as bringing your little ones mouth to your breast. Here are 5 breastfeeding essentials that may be able to help you establish successful breastfeeding:

A well fitting bra:

Make sure you get your breasts correctly measured at a department store that offers such a service and buy not only a bra to fit your size, but one that is two sizes larger in preparation for engorgement. An ill fitting bra can disturb the flow of breastmilk by applying un-needed pressure to your milk ducts.

Breast Milk Shells:

Breast milk shells are designed to be worn whilst breastfeeding (or just after) to collect any excess breast milk that can be stored and later fed to your baby. Use one breast shell on the breast you aren't using whilst feeding your little one to collect any leakage or just after for the same purpose. It is recommended that you don't use breast shells for more than half an hour at a time, to ensure you don't interrupt your milk flow.

Sling:

Slings are great for feeding when out and about, they make feeding your baby whilst on the move easier and can make public breastfeeding more discrete.

Pump:

Some mums may not have the time to feed from the breast as and when their baby wants. Using a breast pump means you can share feeding time with other close family members and get yourself some well earned rest.

Nipple Cream:

During the early days you may experience sore and cracked nipples. Many of the nipple creams now available for breastfeeding mums on the market, such as Lasinoh, no longer need to be removed before feeding your baby.

Breastfeeding need not be hard and although there are many challenges that you may face when initially feeding there are items that can make the process easier. Support is also key to successful breastfeeding, so check out your local La Leche League services and NCT classes.

Creating a Special Bond With Your Puppy Through Training

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Puppies are bundles of joy with endless amounts of energy to run, jump, and play. Your responsibility as a new dog owner, between the pure delight of your puppy being silly, is to lead her to the correct path through training.

In addition to the routine wellness visits to the vet and measuring out the appropriate food during her growing months, you'll need to set up routines that include bathing, professional grooming, bathroom manners and socialization. Prior to introducing your puppy to her new home and all your friends, you may want to stock up on some supplies from your local dog store. These include:

treats during training
water & food bowls
metal crate with dividers that she'll grow into
collar or harness depending on the breed
4' leash
ID tags
half a dozen chew toys
brush depending on her coat
of course lots and lots of wee wee pads.

The better organized you are the easier it will be to get her acclimated to your "house rules."

Training and socialization should begin within 12 weeks. Contact a trainer for their puppy group classes and begin simple training at home. Have her wear her collar and let her follow you around your living room while tethered to the leash, call her name off leash and reward her with praise and a small treat. Begin house training by physically placing her on the wee wee pad to relieve herself. Training never stops for puppies as they grow into their personalities. Just be patient and her behavior will be corrected so long as you give loving praise and reinforcement.

Introduce your pup to many new things. From simply other dogs to letting her ride securely in your car or on public transportation, other types of socialization can include unusual noises (like fire truck sirens to kids yelling), places (like parks, your work), situations (baby carriage, people in wheelchairs, people carrying canes or umbrellas) and smells (like fresh cut grass, ocean breeze).

Some important questions you should bring up with your vet include discussing when to spay or neuter your puppy and if there is a need to reevaluate your puppy's diet based on her appropriate exercise and climate you live in.

All in all, secure puppies are happy puppies which reduce the chances of destructive behavior. As she gets older, consider enrolling her in doggie day care so as to keep her days interesting and positive.

Colic Relief - Three Natural Ways to Help Your Baby Relax

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The stress of caring for a colicky infant cannot be underestimated. While there are no definitive answers for what causes it, getting reliable colic relief is the goal of every concerned caregiver. There are many potential remedies available, although there is no medication available for the crying itself. Below are three natural ways to help your baby to relax, which in turn can help soothe and prevent excessive crying and colic-like symptoms.

Baby Massage - The stiff posture of colicky infants can cause muscle soreness and exhaustion, which in turn, can lead to additional fussiness and crying. Parents can find colic relief in baby massage, either through a professional masseuse who specializes in infant massage, or through the use of self-help books which teach parents simple techniques for baby massage. The massaging action can provide long-term benefits, including a baby who is more relaxed and better able to handle the stresses that can contribute to colic.
Warm Water Therapy - Some infants experience significant amounts of gas, which can prove quite painful, and thus lead to fussy behavior. By placing your baby in warm water for an extended period of time, you may be able to help your baby's gassiness, and provide colic relief over the long term. If periodic warm water baths are not feasible, similar effects can be obtained by placing a warm towel across your baby's belly after feedings, to help with the elimination of gas.
Baby Wearing - If you have the time, and are comfortable with the concept, baby wearing can provide significant benefits in terms of a calmer, less colicky baby. Putting your baby in a sling allows him or her to feel warm, secure, and connected with you, which can lead to measurably less crying. You may even find that wearing your baby in a sling during a colicky episode will help to reduce the duration of the crying and provide colic relief.

Because are several potential remedies for colic, and you should choose those that fit best with your household. Be open-minded and willing to try various solutions - what works for one baby may not work for yours, but that doesn't mean you should give up. Patience and persistence often pay off when it comes to finding long-term colic relief for babies.

So Many Slings, So Little Time! How to Pick the Right Baby Sling For You

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Ring slings, pouch slings, or wraps. What is the difference between these baby carriers, and which one should you choose? Depending on your life style and the places you plan to take your baby depend on the type of sling you will want to have.

If you have a lot of errands to run with your little one and seem to visit more than a few stores in a day, the baby sling - pouch style, seems to be a very convenient choice. You can keep it folded in your purse and quickly put it over your shoulder and place baby inside easily and quickly. You don't have to worry about buckles, ties, or rings. Just over the shoulder and baby goes in the holder. Easy as that!

The baby sling, pouch style, is pretty versatile for all situations, and offers easy and discreet breast feeding. When breast feeding, the baby is already in the perfect position while placed in the sling. The sling has just enough fabric on the edges to accommodate a private feeding area for baby and mommy.

The baby wrap, which is different than a regular sling, involves a little more setup time but can be done quickly as well, once you get the hang of it. It is a long piece of sturdy yet soft fabric that you wrap around your body and baby in a specific way that encloses baby safely. This might be a good solution if you plan to be out at an event for a few hours and you don't need to take baby out for a while, because of the time it takes to re-tie. It could be used if you're at a fair or concert for example.

Ring slings are very similar to the baby pouch style but you can adjust the slings length, therefore making the pouch area more or less snug. This is also a good sling for quick on and off situations, but a few extra moments might be spent getting the fabric through the ring and some may not like the extra piece of fabric that hangs through the ring. This could cause annoyance for some people. Although this piece of fabric could also serve as an extra cover during breast feeding.

People can own several different baby carriers to account for these different situations, but usually one baby sling can be used for all situations easily; it simply depends on what you find works best for you.

Enjoy Feeding Time With Chicco High Chairs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Having a baby is tantamount to having a high chair - it is much easier to entice the baby and introduce him or her to a new range of foods without having to struggle to balance the baby on your lap. High chairs in the market today are designed to be lightweight and secure at the same time to keep your baby safe while you feed him or her from the front. The tray eliminates the need for lowering the baby to the table, and keeps mess under control. With a good high chair, meal time can be a very fun bonding experience for parent and child.

Chicco is a strong name in the baby appliances market. They offer a complete range of baby gear and toys, including cribs, strollers, and high chairs. Today we are going to give you a distinct review of Chicco high chairs versus the other chairs that are available in the market.

Specifications
Dishwasher safe tray, Slim and easy to fold away design, Designed cushion vinyl pad, Wheels with brakes,
Five point harness to secure child while seated

Advantages
Chicco's high chairs have the main distinction of being adjustable to seven different positions, which is good if you intend to feed your child in different places around the house. The chair is flexible enough to match both low and high tables, countertops, or even be low enough to be taken outside while you sit in low lawn chairs. They can also be folded up and tucked away easily after the baby's meal time. The entire chair can be cleaned with water and soap. We like the harness because it ensures the baby's security during feeding time.

Disadvantages
One minor problem that we encountered about this chair is that it is challenging to clean. Babies can be very messy while eating, so there is a high propensity for food and sauces to get stuck on the seat and tray grooves. Many parents particularly expressed dismay over the food that gets stuck on the tiny seam in the food tray. For busy people, this can be an additional hassle because it calls for extra cleaning time. Some parents recommend simply bringing out the chair and cleaning it with pressurized water, if simple brushing and wiping does not work. We find that it did the trick, and the chair was brought in looking as clean as new.

Verdict
We like Chicco high chairs because they are very attractive, come in so many designs and colors, and they will ensure that our babies get the most comfort and security during eating. The chair itself is very versatile and compact, but can be quite difficult to clean. Chicco high chairs are also a little pricier compared to other high chairs, so get this chair if you are after design and durability versus practicality.

Baby Einstein DVD Collection Helps Parents and Children Share Joys of Discovery

When was the last time you listened to and really appreciated Mozart and Beethoven? When was the last time you thought about British Poet Laureate William Wordsworth? "Baby Mozart" and "Baby Beethoven," award-winning titles in the Baby Einstein DVD Collection, lead you and your baby to discovery of music and the orchestra. In the Baby Einstein DVD devoted to study of nature in the backyard, you and your baby will share Julie Clark's and Wordsworth's faith, "Nature never did betray the heart that loved Her." Your baby discovers the great big world all around, and you rediscover the classics of music, art, and literature.

Two Fundamental Design Principles in the Baby Einstein DVD Collection

Themes from and allusions to the classics run through the entire series. Julie Clark, originator of the DVDs, wanted to share her love of and passion for the arts, the classics, literature and nature with her daughter. Wise enough to know that passion for wonder works of human imagination comes from full engagement with them, Clark developed Baby Einstein DVD to engage, enthrall, and enchant young minds with the humanities' greatest hits.

Julie Clark conceived of her work as creation of a "digital media board"-the high-tech equivalent of an old-fashioned flannel board. Although the videos have a narrative element, they give priority to sights and sounds, encouraging your baby to respond, to engage with all they see and hear. The "digital media board" concept has at least three advantages:

(1) Hands free-Your Baby Einstein DVD leaves your hands free, so that you may point to on-screen images, prompting your child to respond. With your hands free you also may clap and gesture, guiding your baby's responses to all she sees and hears.

(2) Guidance and behavior modeling--you guide the viewing experience, modeling emotions and behaviors which your baby willingly will imitate. Psychologists refer to "the jukebox theory of emotion": when they encounter new concepts, babies imitate their parents' and role models' reactions. When you express surprise, your baby learns how to express surprise. When you express amazement, your baby learns how to express her own amazement. Watching the Baby Einstein DVD Collection with your baby, you teach her how to express joy, delight, happiness, fascination, excitement, and the full spectrum of new and powerful emotions.

(3) Control of the viewing experience-Naturally, because you control the television and video, you control the viewing experience, speeding up over scenes and episodes for which your child shows little interest, slowing down and becoming involved with sounds and images that naturally command your baby's attention. The designers assure the developmental appropriateness of each video, but you have the luxury of tailor making your Baby Einstein DVD to fit your baby's needs and tastes.

How Do I Stop My Dog From Chewing Wood? What You Should Know!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

That is a question that has plagued dog owners for centuries. Well, we need to break that question down to make sense of it. First of all, how old is the dog that is chewing the wood? Is it a puppy that we're talking about or a full grown dog? Is he or she chewing the wood outside of the home or are they chewing on your wood furniture? I'll bet that most people that find this article are trying to stop their dog from chewing their WOOD FURNITURE! So let's start there, shall we?

First of all, ALL dogs like to chew wood,(among other things...), and if the dog that is chewing the wood is a puppy, then you have an easily handled situation. The chewing of the wood is most likely from teething or "erupting" as most vets refer to it. Puppies get their baby teeth at about 4 weeks. But it doesn't stop there! The teething continues until they get their permanent teeth! Which will happen between 2 to 8 months of age! So you have a lot of chewing going on until then! What can you do about it?

Well, as a concerned dog AND furniture owner, you can buy lots and lots of chew toys! Your puppy is teething and just like a human baby, he will explore everything with his mouth! The chewing on the wood relieves some of the pressure and pain he is feeling in his gums. For an even better experience for him, put the chew toys in the freezer. The cold on his gums will feel great to him!

As far as an older dog, you have to do the same thing. But with a little verbal reinforcement. You already know from the condition of your furniture that you cannot leave him at home all alone while you're at work! So your full grown dog needs chew toys also. I recommend the rawhide ones that can take a beating. Remember we're talking about a full grown dog here with full grown teeth! So he will need a little more to chew on.

Once you introduce it to him and he begins to chew on the brand new chew toy. Let him know that you approve of it by saying," Good Boy!" or "Good Dog!" The added verbal reinforcement will let him know that you would rather him chew on the chew toys and NOT your furniture!

Front Baby Carrier Or Back Baby Carrier - Which is More Convenient?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Front baby carrier or back carrying model - Nowadays there are so many options out there, even including side or hip carrying ones. The most important part of transporting our baby around is that the baby should be safe at all times.

So when going out into public spaces like parks there are potential dangers for babies, like pets and even other small children exploring. The safest place is right in your arms, but you do need your hands too, so a back, side or front baby carrier is the safest option to carry your baby. It's like a safe little cocoon, keeping the baby in a firm position and protecting it from danger.

Be it a back or a front baby carrier it should always provide enough room for the baby and be comfy. It should have a firm base to protect and support the infant. More and more parents buy front baby carriers, or back ones, because they realize the advantages these have over strollers and stationary baby seats.

You have your baby close to you all the time, which makes baby feel safe and enables you to constantly keep tabs. You have both hands free to go about tasks and baby is on the run with you, upstairs, downstairs, indoors and out, no strollers or stationary chairs to lug around.

Now with all that increased market for all types of infant carriers it's no wonder there are so many brands and models available. So, to pick the perfect one for YOUR baby can become a bit of a challenge.

There are so many different models, back, side and front baby carrier, because they are made for different purposes. Some are for newborns up to 6 months old, some are for babies that can already sit up to toddlers of 50 pounds. Some are frame-less, like the newborn kind and others have metal frames, so you can even set them down. Canopies and storage compartments are other features available on a number of models.

So you need to decide in what settings you want to use the infant carrier. Is your baby under 6 months old? Then you probably want a frame-less front baby carrier. They are softer and it'll give you total control of your baby and still keeps your hands mostly free.

If you're a very busy mom or dad and your infant is able to sit up by themselves a back baby carrier may be more convenient, since it keeps your hands free, while baby bounces along for the ride. These are also good if you suffer from back problems, since carrying on your back instead of using a front baby carrier is easier on your back. In that case look for a model with a 5-point harness which helps to distribute baby's weight evenly.

Baby Pouch - Just Like a Kangaroo

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you have ever watched animal planet or any television channel that features animals, you have probably seen how various parents carry around their children. One of the animals that has probably stuck out in your mind, especially if you are already a parent, is the kangaroo because of how easy they appear to have it.

From the time a kangaroo gives birth, it can place its baby into a pouch and carry it around like that. While a kangaroo has a baby pouch built right in, humans were not so lucky on the evolutionary scale. Therefore, we had to come up with our own methods of carrying babies around without the use of our hands.

A pouch sling is the perfect solution to this evolutionary problem, as it gives mothers a removable baby pouch. This baby pouch is completely safe and in some ways, it is actually superior to the pouch that a kangaroos has.

First of all, it is much cleaner. Kangaroo's pouches are extremely sticky and would not be inhabitable for a human being. A baby pouch, however, is a soft place for a baby to relax without a care in the world. You will also see that baby pouches can be placed on different parts of the mother's body, while a kangaroo pouch is stationary.

Whether you have ever wished that you had a kangaroo pouch or not, you can take advantage of a pouch baby carrier at any time, as these items are the perfect solution to one of motherhood's greatest problems. Your baby will enjoy being in this sling pouch because it will feel like home to a newborn baby, much like a mother's pouch is home to a kangaroo's baby.

This baby pouch can be removed and washed with little trouble whatsoever. You will enjoy the fact that if the baby has an accident or spits up on the pouch, that it can be cleaned in the washing machine without any hassle. Of course, if these baby pouches were attached to our bodies, this would be impossible and cleanup would be much more difficult.

No matter how large your baby is getting, you can easily make room in pouch slings for the baby, as they are deep enough to accommodate babies up to 30 pounds in weight. Your baby is obviously the most important person in your life, so now is the time to make sure that this baby is properly taken care of.

Baby pouches offer babies the support that they need in order to grow up healthy in a loving home and they are definitely well worth the price. Luckily, you will not have to go through with an expensive surgery that would be involved if you decided to attach a baby pouch to your body, all you have to do is purchase a pouch baby carrier.

This is one purchase that neither you nor your baby will ever regret because it will keep your baby close to you throughout the day and give him or her the support that he or she needs when it is needed the most.

Baby Carriers Are a Mom's Best Friend

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Having a baby brings a new set of challenges for you and your family. You need to find a way to transport your new addition to help make your life easier. Baby carriers are an excellent way keep your baby close to you and still have flexibility. There are many different carriers to choose from and determining which is right for you and your family may seem a bit daunting. Here are some ideas to help you make the choice which will fit your needs.

Keep in mind there may not be a right "one" carrier; you may want to have a couple of different carriers for different situations. Here is a summary of some of the most popular baby carriers available with some of the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Some baby carriers allow you to "wear" your baby close to you. The most common of these carriers are baby slings. Baby slings are made of soft fabrics. They may be padded or unpadded. The sling generally refers to an adjustable, fabric carrier made of fabric with a ring that allows the wearer to lengthen or shorten a "tail" of fabric to fit the wearer of the sling and the baby they are carrying.

Once you learn how to properly adjust them, proponents of baby slings say they are the carrier of choice. One sling can adjust to any size adult caregiver, which is a plus. They are versatile and work well for nursing discreetly in public. There is a learning curve to figure out how to accurately adjust the fabric through the rings.

Another baby carrier that holds the baby close to the caregiver is the baby pouch. Similar to the baby sling, the pouch is made from a folded piece of cloth. However, the pouch uses a folded length of fabric, forming a pouch for the baby. The ends are fastened or sewn together, so that it is unnecessary to adjust the carrier. The pouch is easy to use, but needs to be properly fitted for a snug baby carry. It goes over one shoulder like the sling so your baby's weight is all on one side.

Another unstructured baby carrier is the mei tai carrier. This Asian-inspired carrier is a soft carrier which has straps that fit over both shoulders, making it an ideal carrier for larger babies and toddlers. Although most wearers can fit a standard size, some manufacturers make extra large or small sizes as well. It's especially effective for a back carry, although not necessarily for a newborn.

A wrap is a baby carrier that can be very versatile. The long piece of fabric distributes the baby's weight over both shoulders, and it can be configured in many ways: back carry, hip, front, etc. If the wearer pre-ties the wrap, it can be used quickly for quick trips. However, the long piece of fabric can sometimes be bulky to store, and can be intimidating to a new user. There is a learning curve in mastering the different ties which are possible with the wrap style carrier.

Besides these soft, baby-wearing baby carriers, there are a variety of framed and unframed backpacks and front carriers for outdoor adventures. No matter which you choose, you and your baby will enjoy the closeness, bonding and convenience baby carriers provide you and your family.

Caracol Cream - Does it Help Reduce Wrinkles?

Caracol cream is a brand new skin care product that helps reduce and eliminate wrinkles in skin. I have had fair skin my whole life and unfortunately a life of sun and beach fun has left my skin a lot older looking than it should. In addition, I have a large wrinkle in between my eyes from squinting when out in the sun and not using sunglasses. This wrinkle has been a sore spot for me my whole life and I have been slightly embarrassed about it for some time now. I have been using Caracol Cream for just over two months now and have already seen some results.

Before using the cream I wanted to research the ingredients because I was afraid of some of the harmful chemicals some skin care products have. However, caracol cream is made up of completely natural ingredients according to there website. I found out that caracol strangely enough means "snail" in Spanish and caracol cream actually uses snails in its cream. This fact kind of grossed me out but I figured the product has a free trial so I might as well give it a shot. In addition, there has been no know side effects.

After two months of using the cream I have found that my wrinkles have been slowly fading away. My main concern was finding a product that could help reduce the big wrinkle in the middle of my forehead. After using the cream the wrinkle has faded a bit and I am very happy with the results.

Numerous Benefits of Baby Slings

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Even today the biggest benefit of baby slings is the safety it provides to a child. Modern technology offers many baby alerting mechanisms to connect a baby with its parents. There are two-way baby monitors through which the mother can coo back if a child is whimpering, and there are baby monitors with video facilities through which parents can watch the baby. Still, the security provided these provide nowhere near the security by a baby carrier, which allows the parent to keep the child literally bound to her. When the child is safe, the parent too will be tension free and in good spirits by extension.

Another benefit is the hands free option a baby carrier provides. If a child is to be carried around without a sling, you will need both the hands to support it. This position obviously leaves you unable to do any other job. A slightly older child can be held in one hand and the other hand can be used to attend to small tasks. But when the left hand is carrying a child, even the right hand will not be able to work at full strength. With babies safe inside baby slings, women even manage heavy works like scything in the fields, or herding cattle, or breaking rocks.

The convenience scenario is not the only positive aspect of carrying a baby in slings. The set-up of holding a child in hand for long is against the principle of ergonomics as well, especially when it is carried on the hips. When a baby carrier is worn correctly, the childs weight gets distributed uniformly across the back or front so that the wearer is unlikely to have pain in the arms or shoulders, which could result from carrying the baby in arms.

From the ergonomics point of view the Ergo baby carrier is a distinct advantage. These baby slings are designed to carry larger baby weights and can be used for slightly grown babies. Ergo carriers come with many attachments like weather cover, waist extender, doll carrier etc. A weather cover is for covering the baby if it is too chilly, and a waist extender is for extending the baby carrier to fit more heavy-set parents. And manufacturers offer even ergo doll carriers for pre-teens to live their games fully by carrying dolls or teddy bears in it.

Being together with the parent in baby slings aids faster mental development of the child as well. Continuous proximity to adults exposes a child to more outside sounds than it would be exposed to inside a crib. So the child will pick up the spoken language faster as it will be exposed to adult conversation more frequently. A baby who spends a lot of time in a baby carrier with a parent will also be more easily alerted to sounds like animal sounds, or vehicle sounds, or whatever sound is more prevalent in the surrounding where it is carried around, as well as the colors of nature. When he is alerted easily to sounds and sights, he will learn to respond faster to them.

Top 3 Things to Consider Before Buying a Baby Carrier For Your Baby

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are going to buy a new carrier to carry your baby with you wherever you go, you need to take some important factors into consideration before deciding on which carrier to buy. This is simply because you cannot just buy a carrier and expect it to be safe, comfortable and ergonomic at the same time.

As you know, babies are so fragile that they need ongoing care and attention. And as a parent, it is in your responsibility to protect and keep them safe. You have to give them the best you can.

Often times, you will have to take your baby along with you and to do so you will need some type of means. For the sake of simplicity and safety, the best choice will be a baby carrier. As there are many types of carriers such as backpack carriers, front carriers, sling carriers and wrap carriers; you have the option to choose from a wide range of products. Though, caution should be taken while choosing the right one.

There are three important things when it comes to decide on the right carrier. First one is safety. You have to ask yourself the question "Will my baby be safe in this baby carrier?". To answer this question, think about on how and where you will use the baby carrier. Will you use it in the house, will you use it while driving, or will you use it on a long trip on foot? After answering this question, you need to do some research about the various types and brands of baby carriers to see what suits best to your needs. Ask to the companies which provide carriers about your safety concerns. And surely, they will help you.

Comfort is another concern in the decision process. Safety is not the only factor that will be enough, as you have to ask yourself the following question "Will my baby be comfortable in this baby carrier?". Think about if you will move a lot with the carrier or you will just be sitting on a bus trip. Think what you will be doing while carrying your baby and if it will be comfortable meanwhile. Compare different types of carriers according to the answer and you will find the right one.

Another point to take into consideration is the materials used in the production of the baby carrier. Ask the following question to the company before you buy from them "What is your baby carrier made of? Will it cause any health problems to my baby?". In addition to safety and comfort of your baby, you have to take health concerns into consideration too. Since your baby will be in direct touch to the carrier most of the times, the materials use in the carrier should not cause any health problems to your baby. Try to find people who used a baby carrier before and ask them if they experienced any health problems. Or you can simply ask to the provider to give you information about the subject.

What I talked about above were the most important factors that you need to take into consideration before buying a baby carrier.

Where Are the Baby Products?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When a baby is born, there is all sorts of jubilation. The giving of gifts, kisses thrown and given, congratulations offered. Where are the gifts? Oh yes, the baby shower. That was some weeks prior. Now, at the birth, there are no baby products. No burp cloths, no teething rings, no high chairs. Where are they? Not at the hospital, that is for sure. They would just be in the way. Is that not the case for as long as the baby is a baby? Underfoot, in the way, tripping over it. Always in the way. Not a fun time.

Why do we buy them? Why do we need them? If they are so in the way, what is the point? Well let me tell you. If there was an expectant mother, and she was thrown a baby shower, and there were no gifts given, what kind of party would that be? Not a good one, I will tell you. Gifts are a part of our society. It is not seemly to come to a party without a gift. The question now is what to bring. Since this is a baby shower, party guests will bring gifts of bottles and cloths and the occasional stroller. When the party is over, the expectant mother will have a mountain of STUFF all over the room where the party took place. Some of the items will be useful but others not so much. Even if the mother does not want or even need some of the stuff that she received for the party, she will not throw it out or get rid of it in some other fashion because it was a gift and she does not want to offend the individuals who got that for her.

Why so much stuff? The baby products that we buy for ourselves or for others as gifts is both a gift and an alleviation. At least that was the intention for the person that bought it. Burp cloths were purchased as a gift for an expectant mother, but then it was discovered that she uses only wash cloths she purchased at the discount 10 for a dollar. A baby sling was purchased for the mother who recently gave birth and she does not use it at she claims it makes her back hurt. For every good intention the gift giver has there is an excuse not to use it.

After christmas, more than half of the gifts given are returned to the store. This is because American like to buy and get stuff, but they want the stuff that they want. This means that the gifts they get are usually not exactly what they want, despite the excellent good intentions of the giver, so they take it back. The point here is not to tell people to stop buying gifts, but to do so from the from the heart. Think about the person you are buying for and remember what they like. If they are truly a friend, you will know what to buy and they will most likely not take it back. Remember that next time you are at a baby shower and don't just impulse buy.

Nothing Beats Homemade Baby Food

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What we give our children to eat when they are young can have a great effect on their future health and well being, so we want to give them as good a start as possible. This gets them on the road to a life of healthy waiting.

We all know that a mother's milk gives a baby it's best start in life, however, it's what comes next that matters. Once they are ready to be weaned don't reach for cans or jars of baby food because they're convenient; here are a few and easy healthy recipes.

For a baby's first solid food, choose one kind of fruit and mash it up until is a fine paste. Remember how delicate your baby's digestive system will be and introducing too many new things at once will really upset it. Try a fruit that isn't acidic and will be gentle on their stomach; such as pear or papaya.

Once they have tried a variety of fruits they can be moved onto other things. Cereals are ideal, as are a thin broth. Once of the easiest foods is simply mashing together boiled potatoes and carrots.

Always remember that mashes must be smooth and have nothing added. A thin porridge made from mashed banana is perfect; but don't add any sugar.

A good way to make a broth when your child is a bit older is to make it with organic chicken, but strain it so they get the goodness but there is no chance of choking on the pieces of chicken.

When preparing broth and the like, avoid 'windy' veg such as onions and wait a while before adding pulses. Cauliflower and broccoli can also cause wind so leave those until later too.

By making your child's food yourself, you can be certain that they are getting a lot of goodness but no unnecessary additives. They are getting a healthy start in life and you are doing the best by your baby.

The Best Way to Teach Your Baby to Read Fast

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Babies can learn to read. That is a proven fact. You can see lots of proof of this by visiting You Tube and searching out babies reading. You will see a great number of babies that are learning to read. Prior to the Internet it was much more difficult to believe such a claim, but proud parents are uploading videos of their babies reading.

With the spread of the Internet we can also find out how parents are teaching their babies to read and what programs they are using and enjoying. This is really wonderful for consumers since we can search out the dirt on companies and find out if their products are really what they claim to be.

You can teach your baby to read very quickly. By that I mean in very little time each day. The quickest and easiest way to teach your baby to read is by using a baby reading program that involves DVDs and flash cards. The DVDs are designed to entertain babies while teaching them to read. Doesn't that sound almost too good to be true? Since most people are attracted to the television anyway, you can tap into the powerful pull of the TV by playing videos that will teach your baby to read. This takes up to 30 minutes a day, but it quickly becomes a favorite activity for babies.

Parents do not need to sit and watch the videos with their babies although they can if they choose to. The DVDs are very interactive and keep babies stimulated and entertained as they learn to read. While using the DVDs in a baby reading program requires the least amount of preparation for parents there is and even faster way to teach your baby to read.

You can literally teach your baby to read in just minutes a day with flash cards. Babies generally view a set of 5-20 flash cards a few times a day. The cards are flashed very quickly and require little time to show. Parents can work in the flash card sets around common daily activities such as diaper changes or meals. In less than 5 minutes a day you can teach your baby to read.

Flash cards are the most traditional and common method of teaching babies to read. Parents have been using this method for more than half a century. Flash cards are an excellent option for parents that are opposed to having their babies exposed to television viewing.

Using a mei tai can be tricky at first, look around for mei tai tutorials and a mei tai review to find the brand and type best for you and your baby.

Place your baby facing towards you and wrap his or her legs around your waist, supporting him with a hand under his bottom. Pull the carrier up and over your baby's back. His legs should be sticking out on either side of the carrier. Then, strap the mei tai over your shoulders and pull them comfortably around your back. Cross them and finally wrap the straps around your front, and tie a knot underneath his bottom.

There are other basic ways to use a mei tai. Research on the different ways to tie a mei tai will result in even more ways to carry your baby and keep him safe and secure while you stay hands-free. Remember to practice the different methods with a doll before you try with your baby.
